Yadkin County, North Carolina, is accepting sealed proposals for a vendor neutral Public Safety Radio System Design and Engineering Consultant or Consulting Firm beginning June 6, 2012 at 3:00 pm EST and ending July 6, 2012 at 5:00 PM EST. Opening of bids will be July 12, 2012 at 3:00 pm EST at the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office, 210 E. Hemlock Street, Yadkinville, NC 27055

In order to comply with the FCC’s narrowbanding requirement by the deadline of January 1, 2013, the County is seeking a consultant to review the County’s public safety radio system, to recommend and design upgrades or modifications to that system that will satisfy the narrowbanding requirement, and to assist the County with implementing the upgraded or modified system by the January 1, 2013 deadline. The County’s public safety radio system covers 12 Combination (Paid/Volunteer) Fire and/or Rescue agencies, Countywide Emergency Medical Services, the County Sheriff (court, detention, patrol, civil and investigations divisions), Animal Services, Combined Communications Center (County Public Safety Answering Point), and other County agencies. The system also covers the police departments and other departments within the municipalities of Boonville, East Bend, Jonesville and Yadkinville.
